Mercy is about to get a huge overhaul, and her changes are splitting the Mercy community in two. So many Mercy mains swear that this is the worst nerf imaginable, while others are excited about the gameplay opportunities that it will offer. No matter your opinion, the fact remains that this is a huge change. Mercy will never be the same. Take a look at the update video above to get the details, or if you’re short on time, we’ll summarize what’s happening for you right here.

The Biggest Change: Mercy’s Ultimate is No Longer Resurrect
Yeah, you heard that right. Mercy can no longer perform a massive full-team resurrection as her ultimate ability. Instead, resurrect has been turned into a normal ability, and you can only resurrect one person at a time. While that may sound strange and potentially overpowered at first, understand that the resurrect ability will have a significant cooldown timer, so you’re not going to be spamming rezzies. You’ll have to really pick and choose who and when to resurrect instead of waiting for that one giant moment when the whole team can be brought back.
Crazy, right?! Try not to panic. Mercy is getting a brand new ultimate.
Mercy’s New Ultimate: Valkyrie

We all love the Valkyrie skin, and now Mercy is transforming into a Valkyrie proper. The team at Blizzard knew that they’d have to replace the resurrection ult with something big, and Valkyrie is a really powerful ability.
When you activate the Valkyrie ultimate, Mercy will be able to fly — like, really fly. In addition to the enhanced mobility, everything Mercy does is enhanced and improved. Her healing and boosting beams are powered up and have a further reach. They’ll also chain, so if teammates are near each other, you’ll be able to heal or boost all of them at once. Triggering Valkyrie will also reset your resurrection ability timer, and your gun is given a significant damage boost.
Pretty rad, right? So while you’ll no longer be able to resurrect your entire team with the tap of a button, all of these changes should make for a much more active Mercy playing experience. What do you think? Are you excited to try out her new style, or do you wish they would have left Mercy alone?
