Upcoming Pokemon Go Event Offers Perfect Opportunity to Evolve This Tricky Pokemon

Pokemon Go never has a shortage of Raid battles for trainers to take part in. But big Raid Day events are extra special, showcasing a ton of Raids for specific Pokemon. Often, these events are a great opportunity to gather with your local community and Shiny hunt a powerful Pokemon. Some Pokemon, including the upcoming Mega Sharpedo, even debut during Raid Day events. But with this upcoming Pokemon Go event, there’s another opportunity trainers won’t want to miss.

Mega Sharpedo will debut in Pokémon Go on September 7th during the Mega Sharpedo Raid Day event. From 2 PM to 5 PM local time, Mega Sharpedo will be appearing in Raids all over the Pokemon Go map. It’s an exciting opportunity to encounter Mega Sharpedo for the first time, as well as a great chance to hunt for Shiny Sharpedo. But there’s another hidden opportunity here that trainers won’t want to miss – an easier road to evolving Kubfu into Urshifu.

How to Evolve Kufbu into Urshifu

Until recently, Kubfu couldn’t evolve in Pokemon Go. But this May, Urshifu arrived during the GO Battle Week event. Now, trainers can evolve Kufbu into two different Urshifu forms in Pokemon Go. But like many evolutions in the game, this is a special evolution. So, you’ll need to complete some Buddy Tasks with Kubfu before it can evolve.

Kubfu can evolve into two different forms – Rapid Strike Urshifu or Single Strike Urshifu. Both forms have a similar, but slightly different, Buddy Evolution Requirement. Here’s how to evolve Kubfu into both Urshifu forms in Pokemon Go:

• Single Strike Urshifu – Defeat 30 Dark-Type Pokemon in Raids or Max Battles with Kubfu as your Buddy
• Rapid Strike Urshifu – Defeat 30 Water-Type Pokemon in Raids or Max Battles with Kubfu as your Buddy

Generally speaking, most players agree that Single Strike Urshifu is the best in battle, and therefore the one you’ll likely want to try for first. That said, players who want to complete their Pokemon Go PokeDex will eventually need to evolve Kubfu into both forms. And that’s where Mega Sharpedo Raid Day comes in handy.

Sharpedo is a dual Water- and Dark-Type Pokemon. In other words, battling Mega Sharpedo in Raids gives you the opportunity to progress towards each of Kubfu’s forms. That means that if you really grind during the Mega Sharpedo Raid Day Event, you can evolve Kubfu into both Urshifu forms. You’ll just need to have two Kubfu on hand, since you can’t evolve a single Pokemon into two forms.

This isn’t the only opportunity to evolve Kubfu, but it’s certainly a quick and easy way to tackle a ton of Water- and Dark-type Raids in a short amount of time. And since Raid Days tend to bring more players out to Raid, it’s also a chance to more easily defeat the Raid boss by partying up. So, make sure to set Kubfu as your buddy if you’re going to participate in Mega Sharpedo Raid Day in Pokemon Go on September 7th from 2 PM to 5 PM local time.

If you’ve already evolved your Kubfu or don’t have one on hand, there are a few other Pokemon with Buddy Evolution requirements that can be satisfied during Mega Sharpedo Raid Day. Evolving Bisharp to Kingambit also requires battling Dark-type Pokemon in Raids, so that’s a solid alternative to get the most out of this Raid Day.
