Of course, the big news for Pokken Tournament DX is the five new fighters added to the game. The new version of Pokken adds four fighters added to the Japanese arcade version of the game, but excluded from the Wii U game after its release. Pokken also adds Decidueye, a brand new fighter from Pokemon Sun and Moon. Several other Pokemon from the new Pokemon game were also added as Support Pokemon that help the player distract or damage their opponent.
Not only do we get some new looks at Pokken Tournament‘s new fighters, the trailer also shows off all the new game modes that should add hours of fun and excitement for players. The coolest new mode is “Team Mode,” which allows players to build teams of three fighters similar to the King of Fighters series. There’s also a new online feature that allows players to limit their online matchmaking to smaller groups of opponents chosen by the player, which basically takes out some of the randomness that comes with battling online.
The other new features is a brand new “Daily Challenge” mode that pushes players to compete in various challenges that change on a day-to-day basis. The challenges can be anything from beating a certain amount of Pokemon within a limited timeframe to competing in a certain type of battle so many times in a day. Beating the challenges will earn players points that can be used to upgrade Pokemon.
The new Pokken Tournament game comes out for the Nintendo Switch on September 22, 2017.
