Capcom has stealthily added a new update for Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers for Nintendo Switch, and while it didn’t detail exactly what the update was meant to do, it appears that someone has managed to find out.

During the company’s World of Capcom panel at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, it was revealed that players will be able to unlock Shin Akuma within the game โ free of charge. Yep, simply by following a few steps in the game’s menu, you’ll be able to unlock this powerful warrior and pit him against Evil Ryu or Vicious Ken โ or whoever else you want him to go against in the game.
So there’s a fairly simple secret code that you need to follow, and the steps go like this in the main character select menu:
– Select Ryu, stay in colour 1 and cancel.
– Select Ken, move from colour 1 to colour 9 and cancel.
– Select Sagat, move from colour 1 to colour 8 and cancel.
– Select M. Bison, move from colour 1 to colour 7 and cancel.
– Move to Random and hit L+R.
This is pretty big news for fans that have been looking for a fresh new warrior in the game, as Akuma comes with a mess of outstanding moves. These include the double air fireball, as well as the speed that makes him a force to be reckoned with.
Of course, there’s a catch โ Shin Akuma isn’t added permanently into the game after entering this code. That means you’ll have to go through this procedure again if you turn the system off and come back to it later. It’s not that hard a command system, though, so it’s not the end of the world.
Sure, it’s not a huge roster change for the old-school game, but look on the bright side โ you’re not paying an arm and a leg for downloadable content, either. So enjoy Shin Akuma for everything that he brings to the table, and prepare for some epic encounters when you play alongside your friends.
