Sonic Forces Getting New Digital Comic Series

With Sonic Forces set to arrive next month – and usher Sega’s familiar hero Sonic the Hedgehog into a new era of gaming – the publisher has opted to produce a new set of digital comics that will get us more oriented with the story that’s to come in the game.

The series, put together by writer Ian Flynn, has already gotten an introduction with the first chapter in the four-part series, with the second chapter set to arrive later this month, and the remainder set to come sometime in November.

What’s interesting, though, is that the comics don’t actually feature Sonic, but instead focus on secondary characters that are featured in the game. For instance, your custom hero character that’s in Sonic Forces is the main star here, keeping tabs on the others as they attempt to fend off an invasion from Dr. Robotnik, aka Eggman.

The comic also features a number of characters from the classic Sega 32X game Knuckles Chaotix, who will no doubt be making some kind of return in Forces, even though it’s likely to be as secondary characters.

The first chapter of the comic series is called Moment of Truth, and it was written by Ian Flynn. You can read over the first chapter and what the story is all about in the attached gallery.
