We just got our first glimpse at Insomniac’s Spider-Man during Sony’s E3 conference. This is the first time we’ve seen the web-slinger in his new suit since the game was announced, and Insomniac has kept a tight lid on what could turn out to be the best Spider-Man game ever made. Check out the trailer above and see for yourself how well it’s shaping up.

Insomniac Games is known for its ability to tell effective stories and craft beautiful games that push their platforms to their utmost limits. When it comes to Spider-Man it’s plain to see that this is a game that was designed from the ground up to squeeze every last drop out of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro’s hardware.
It looks like Spider-Man’s webs are going to play a more important role in this game than they ever have in games past. We can see that a totally new and dynamic combat and traversal system has been dreamt up by the folks at Insomniac, and it looks incredible. The parkour action in Spider-Man is going to be fast, fun, intuitive, and flashy. Pretty much anyone or anything you can see, you can web, and most of the environmental details around you at any given time can be used to your advantage.
Likewise, the combat system looks fluid and acrobatic. In this game we’re going to actually feel like Spider-Man, mixing up impressive martial arts with some serious web-slinging for fights that look like they’re straight out of a choreographed blockbuster film.
While we didn’t get to learn that much about Spider-Man himself in tonight’s trailer, Insomniac Games did let a few details slip recently.
This Spider-Man Is Older, More Experienced
It seems that Spider-Man is getting younger and younger as more films debut, but in Spider-Man on PS4, Peter Parker will be older and more experienced. He’s also facing a brand new threat never before featured in aย Spider-Man game. Mister Negative is here, and he’s brought with him a brand new gang of thugs known as the demons.
While Mister Negative seems as deadly as ever, so does Spider-Man. We’re dealing with a mature, experienced, and cool-headed Spidey capable of dealing with potential catastrpohies on the fly, and multiple foes at once.
In an interview,ย Marvel’s Bill Rosemannย affirmed our experienced hero: “You see in everything that he does that he’s learned, he’s experienced, he’s really mastering his skills. And you know, as Stan said, what Marvel does is put the human in the Superhuman, so like us, we learn from our experiences. Hopefully, we grow and learn from them and get better, and we just wanted to, we’re always thinking ‘what would Peter do?’”
We approve of this older and flashier Spider-Man, but what do you guys think about our main villain? Are you happy with the decision to star Mister Negative as the main baddy? Did you have someone else in mind? Weigh in on the poll below.
