Eager to get your hands on Splatoon 2 before it officially launches later this month? Well, good news – earlier this month Nintendo announced players will get to participate in game’s first Splatfest on July 15, which happens to be today! Time to get messy!

For those unfamiliar with the Splatfest concept, players pick a side in an eternal debate, then compete in Turf War matches to determine which side is “right.” This particular Splatfest asks the pressing question – cake or ice-cream? Hey, can’t we have both?
Today’s Splatfest runs from 3pm to 7pm PT. Here’s how to get in on the fun:
“Players just have to download the free demo in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch and get ready to decide if cake or ice cream is their dessert of choice. To prepare in advance, the demo can be downloaded early before the Splatfest goes live. Once downloaded, players can start the demo to vote for their team, and even visit the in-game mailbox to create and share drawings in support of their team.”
Here are the maps and weapon sets you’ll get to try out during the demo:

- Starfish Mainstage + Inkblot Art Academy: 3 – 5pm PST
- Moray Towers + Humpback Pump Track: 5 – 7pm PST
