Star Wars: Battlefront II keeps looking better every time we see it, between its amazing new single player campaign and its traditional multiplayer getting quite a boost. But there’s some concern tying in with said multiplayer, as some people aren’t quite sure how the progressive cycle works.

Granted, you can level up your character with ease within the game, but there have been talks about it including Microtransactions, which has some players wondering if there’s a way to “pay to win,” which, in turn, could ruin the fun for those that are making progress the old fashioned way.

That said, an EA rep recently spoke with Eurogamer on the matter, making note that, while there will be Microtransactions, players will be able to progress equally. “Players will be rewarded in the game through regular play in many different, earnable ways including crates,” they explained. “For those that want to accelerate the rewards, they can do so by purchasing crates that contain randomized items and rewards.”

So, to reiterate, buying stuff in the game does give you access to more goodies, but it doesn’t quite advance your level of play. It will certainly speed up the unlock system when it comes to crafting new Star Cards, but it won’t make you an unstoppable behemoth squashing everyone in your path, thank goodness.

That said, despite this indication, some people still believe that players will have a slightly unfair advantage if they go and buy a high number of crates for their player. But it also sounds like you’ll be able to earn a few crates during your multiplayer romps anyway, so it doesn’t sound like you’ll be too far off in stockpiling the goods yourself. It just depends on how much you like to play โ€“ and based upon what we’ve seen thus far, Star Wars: Battlefront II will have a lot to offer when it comes to the multiplayer component.

We’ll see how it all balances out in just a few months, and while buying upgrades is a neat way to go, it’s just good that Battlefront II won’t make it a requirement on top of the game to truly enjoy what it has to offer. Whew.

Star Wars: Battlefront II will release on November 17th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Origin PC.
