The month of June has come and gone, but it left quite an impact on the video game sales market, especially with games like ARMS and Tekken 7 joining the fray. And, as expected, they performed quite well.

The NPD recently reported its results for the month, and the PlayStation 4 proved to be dominant in terms of hardware sales, mainly due to the introduction of the gold-colored CUH-2000 slim model with the 1TB hardware, which was on sale for a brief period of time for $249.99. Overall, hardware sales showed an increase by 19 percent year over year, although portable consoles seemed to drop quite a bit, going down 40 percent from the previous year. At least the Nintendo Switch seems to be doing well on the hardware side of things.
As far as games go, Tekken 7 had no trouble being the king of the ring for June, with a first place victory in terms of sales. Injustice 2 was close behind on second, while Grand Theft Auto V continued to notch its way into the top three. Rounding out the top five were Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and the physical edition of ARMS (digital copies weren’t tallied as Nintendo didn’t provide specifics on downloads).
Here are the top twenty best sellers:
- Tekken 7
- Injustice 2
- Grand Theft Auto V

There’s a pretty good chance ARMS performed better with digital sales included (as well as Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8, but this is still a very good top ten list. And next month should be interesting, with Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age and Splatoon 2 joining the fray.
