Tom Clancy’s The Division is due for some major changes when its next update arrives. The Division developer Massive Entertainment recently invited a handful of top players, dubbed the Elite Task Force to come preview the upcoming changes, and YouTuber Arekkz reported on what he saw.
The two most substantial changes on the way are Global Events and Commendations. Global Events, which were previously called “Seasons,” happen monthly and add new challenges and modifiers to the world. Here are the Global Event bullet points, as provided by Arekkz.

Global Events
– They occur once a month and last for one week (duration may vary to coincide with seasonal events).
– Global modifier applies to ALL PvE content (positive modifier designed to make things more fun).
– During the event a specific set of activities is put into a playlist and you can ADD an additional ‘Activity modifier’ to add a more challenging twist OR add a ‘Group modifier’ to add group mechanics on top.
– Modifiers increase the chance to get better rewards at the end.
– During a Global Event, you will be able to earn a new type of STAT ITEM that will help develop your build further.
– You will also be able to get a new type of Vanity Items.
Meanwhile, Commendations, which were previously called “Feats,” are basically the game’s new achievement system. Here’s the bullet points on them:
Commendations
– These are an achievement type activity that encourage you to grind in order to complete them.
– Some Commendations reward you with completion points to increase your overall score (bragging rights)
– Others will reward you with a new type of vanity item (different to the vanity items we have right now).
– There are LOTS of commendations. Some are easy and will complete passively, others will force you to play a different way and will be very challenging.
Both Global Events and Commendations should arrive in The Division update 1.7. Meanwhile, update 1.8 will bring updated Rogue mechanics, as well as other new features and content.
Tom Clancy’s The Division is available for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 right now. It’s unknown when update 1.7 or 1.8 will arrive, but The Division is expected to get its next major expansion in early summer, so expect the updates sometime before then.
