Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed today that Troy Baker will be returning to reprise his role as Talion in Middle-earth: Shadow of War (trailer above). Not only that, Baker is taking on a directive role as the game’s Performance Capture Director, “where his first-hand experience as an actor is now being utilised with other characters, helping to ensure that each performance fits cohesively within the original narrative in Middle-earth: Shadow of War. “

Baker’s resume is long indeed, and even if you don’t recognize his name, there’s a good chance that you’ll recognize his voice. He’s voiced several iconic characters in some huge games (including the original Middle-earth). Baker has voiced Joel in The Last of Us, Booker DeWitt in BioShock Infinite, Rhys in Tales from the Borderlands, Delsin Rowe in Infamous Second Son, The Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Assault on Arkham, and many more.
WB also revealed today that a special livestream will be airing on June 14, where Baker will discuss his role in the game and talk a little bit more about Shadow of War. This will be going on during WB’s “WB Games Live!” E3 presentation, which you can watch at live.wbgames.com.
“Set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, Middle-earth: Shadow of War is an open-world action RPG that continues the original narrative of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Players will be engrossed in a richer, more personal and expansive world full of epic heroes and villains, iconic locations, original enemy types, more personalities and a new cast of characters with untold stories.”
A new trailer and new gameplay details are inevitable at this year’s E3, but we’re also looking forward to hearing more about the creative process, story, and characters. The stream next Wednesday will very likely reveal a few pleasant surprises.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Project Scorpio, and PC beginning on October 10. Stay tuned to WWG for more.
