Ubisoft continues to show its unprecedented commitment to Rainbow Six Siege, a game that launched in 2015, but continues to receive constant support, additions, updates, and fixes. Today, Ubisoft revealed to the wider world that it’s going to push back its next in-game DLC expansion in order to focus on making the game better than ever, for all players, across the board.

“As announced during the Six Invitational, game health is our priority. To achieve this goal we took the decision to fully dedicate the next three months to improving our game. This means pushing back our season set in Hong Kong and launching instead, Operation Health. Operation Health is all about fixing several issues and investing in better technology to make sure we keep growing strong in the upcoming years.”
The improvements Ubisoft is promising to make are much-needed, and they’re promising to make them soon. First up on the docket is one step matchmaking, which should speed up the process of finding and joining games considerably. They’re also looking to add some server-based features like dedicated voice and party systems. This will be huge, since anyone who currently plays Siege knows how hard it can be to keep your friends together in a squad for prolonged periods of time. Additionally, Ubisoft is looking to crank up the server tick rates for improved hit registration and fewer latency issues.
All of this will be coming soon, but Ubisoft isn’t going to rush anything. It stated that it will be rolling out updates in a more iterative way. “For instance, the One Step Matchmaking will be released first on the Technical Test Server (TTS), then on PC and finally, when ready, on Xbox One and PS4.” That means it could take longer to make it to console players, but it’ll be worth it.
Finally, the imminent deployment of “Operation Health” means that some content has to be pushed back, and revision to the Year 2 roadmap have to be made.
“With Operation Health pushing back our season set in Hong Kong, we needed to rethink our Year 2 Roadmap. Hong Kong will be released in August as part of Season Three and South Korea in November during Season Four. While Poland no longer has a dedicated season, our GROM Operators will be released at the start of Season Three and Four.
“Finally, we have decided to reduce the number of new maps to three this year (including the released map set in Spain) to truly prioritize our game’s health. You can find below our updated Year 2 Roadmap:”
