A new update on what appears to be the next Batman: Arkham game has some good news for Assassin’s Creed fans. Following the underwhelming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which did not perform critically or commercially for the UK team Rocksteady Studios, the reports are that the Batman: Arkham studio is getting back to what it is known for and what everyone wants out of it: the Caped Crusader.

Earlier this year, a very reliable source reported that Rocksteady Studios was working on a new Batman: Arkham game, but that it was far away. So perhaps it should come as no surprise that it is still filling out senior positions for the game’s development. To this end, it recently hired Bill Money, a name many won’t recognize, but whose work you are certainly familiar with.
Assassin’s Creed Veteran
Bill Money’s CV dates all the way back to the 1990s. In other words, he’s an industry veteran, a rare commodity for an industry that bleeds talent and does not have a great retention rate of senior-level talent. In other words, it’s a great pick up for Rocksteady Studios, which needs all the experience and expertise it can get after losing founders and more in recent years.
Money has joined on as a Game Director after previously working in the same role on Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. He was also a Lead Game Designer on Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Some of his other notable credits include Producer credits on both 2002’s Deus Ex and 2003’s Deus Ex: The Invisible War.
Of course, it is incredibly reductive to expect the next Batman: Arkham game to just magically be like Assassin’s Creed Mirage or Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Assassin’s Creed Origins. It won’t be. It will be a Batman: Arkham game, but Money will no doubt bring the experience of making AC games to this project. Suffice to say, we would not be surprised to see a little bit more Assassin’s Creed in the next Batman: Arkham game than there would be otherwise.
All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think, or join the conversation over on the ComicBook Forum. What do you want to see from the next Batman: Arkham game?
