The Black Phone Featurette Explores the Mastery of Director Scott Derrickson (Exclusive)

Sitting at 83% positive reviews on aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, Scott Derrickson’s The Black Phone is one of the most acclaimed horror efforts of the year, and also one of the best-reviewed films of his career. The filmmaker has expressed that it is his most personal effort to date, with a new featurette on the film’s home video release shedding insight into what made his vision so integral to bringing the story to life. Finney (Thames), a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer (Hawke) andย trapped in a soundproof basementย where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney. The film is produced by Derrickson & Cargill’s Crooked Highway and presented by Universal and Blumhouse.
