The latest installment in the Conjuring universe of shared horror films, Annabelle: Creation, recently arrived on home video, and along with it came a variety of special features. Buried in one of the supplemental features about the interconnected films was behind-the-scenes footage of the next chapter in the saga, The Nun, which begins around the 4:11 mark in the video below.

The footage might not share any glimpses of the titular villain from the film, but certainly hints at the massive scale of the picture. Given that the two Conjuring films and two Annabelle films focus on families in their homes, The Nun promises to be a different adventure altogether.

In The Nun, a priest is dispatched to investigate the mysterious death of a nun in Rome. The priest will be played by Alien: Covenant‘s Demiรกn Bichir and the demonic nun will once again by played by Bonnie Aarons. The film also stars Taissa Farmiga, younger sister of The Conjuring‘s Vera Farmiga, as a fellow nun. Charlotte Hope is slated to play the character Sister Victoria, a nun who is plagued by a demonic presence.

The villain debuted in 2016’s The Conjuring 2, with the demonic presence being a figure that tormented Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga).

Much like how Marvel and DC films have begun expanding their universes and allowing different characters to veer in and out of different narratives, The Nun is just the latest extension of the similar concept being explored in these Conjuring universe of films. However, this doesn’t mean each installment into that universe will be a repetitive formula.

“When [The Conjuring director] James [Wan] and I sat down, and we talked story, we wanted [it] to be a little bit more of a mission-based movie,” writer Gary Dauberman revealed to Entertainment Weekly. “We wanted to give a little bit of an action-adventure flavor to it, rather than just someone moving into a house and something creepy happens.”

He added, “We wanted something very atmospheric, very moody โ€” and setting it in Romania certainly accomplishes that.”

The Nun is slated to hit theaters July 13, 2018.
