"I have actually, yeah, but this is the first time of done it sober," James McAvoy tells Patrick Steward when asked whether or not he's ever shaved his head before.

The actor was great sport about shaving every strand of his head from his hair for X-Men: Apocalypse. "You've still got to honor the iconic nature of Professor X," McAvoy says in the featurette above. "I'm glad to finally arrive at that destination.

McAvoy took on the role of Charles Xavier for the first time in X-Men: First Class a few years back and reprised the role for X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014. Neither of those films saw the actor sporting the bald Professor X look as seen in the comics, animated series, and previous portrayals by Patrick Stewart. That changes with X-Men: Apocalypse.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27.
