Deadpool finished its worldwide run with $762.1 million, currently sitting at number five on the list of top grossing films in 2016. Civil War, now a couple of weeks into its theatrical run, has hauled in $765.9 million as it marches toward the $1 billion mark. It is currently sitting fourth on the same list.

By comparison, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice brought in $868.2 million in its run. It is still playing in theaters. The number one movie of the year so far is the animated Zootopia with $959.5 million.

Captain America: Civil War made $178 million domestically in its opening weekend.

Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) must pick a side.
