While much of the internet is up in arms at the recent revelation that Captain America is and apparently always has been a double agent working for Hydra, as revealed in Steve Rogers: Captain America #1 on Wednesday, Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee thinks it's a pretty good idea.

In fact, he expects they'll probably end up using it in the movies.

Captain America is one of only a handful of Marvel's most famous characters Lee had no hand in creating. Still, given his role in Marvel editorial for years, and the fact that he oversaw the Avengers stories which brought Captain America back from his apparent death in World War II, Lee has a long history with the character.

"It's a hell of a clever idea; I don't know that I would ever have thought of it for him to be a double agent, but it's going to make you curious, it's going to make you want to read the books, they'll probably do a movie based on it," Lee told an audience at MegaCon this weekend. "So I can't fault it; it's a good idea. I think it's crazy, but it's a good idea."

Thanks to reader Douglas Meacham for bringing this to my attention.

Lee also said that he'll be filming a number of movie cameos soon; three of his cameos will be shot all at once, apparently, although he isn't sure what movies they're for, or what he'll be doing.

"But you can be damn sure I'll make it," he laughed.
