The Marvel Cinematic Universe is an absolute behemoth. Initiated in 2008, the franchise contains dozens of movies which feature many of the world’s most famous superheroes. There are now hundreds of characters tied into the universe, making it difficult to predict which heroes are going to pop up where. But, when it comes to Ant-Man‘s Michael Douglas, the actor is hoping he might cross paths with Hawkeye at some point.

The actor recently said he is hopeful that, “there will be a moment in the future where Jeremy [Renner] and I have the chance to be in the same Marvel film together.” Douglas shared his wish at a celebrity golf tournament where both he and Renner were teeing up for a cause.

Douglas went on to say, “One of the joys of being in the Marvel family is they find ways of transitioning your character into other Marvel films.” The actor’s words here ring true for fans as well. When it comes to the MCU, there are few things more satisfying than seeing Captain America cameo in the Thor franchise or having Thanos string his appearances over several films.

Well, except for Stan Lee’s cameos. Those easter eggs might take the cake for some fans.

The actor continued to praise Marvel Studios and said its family is extraordinary. “They have made 18 films and every one of them has been successful, which is an extraordinary accomplishment. I don’t think any other studio has had the same degree of success,” he said.

According to CinemaBlend, Renner also spoke at the golf tournament about his interest in teaming up with Michael Douglas. He said he would love to work with the iconic actor, but no word was given on whether the possibility was already in the works. Of course, some fans will wonder whether Douglas and Renner might come together in Avengers: Infinity War, but there’s nothing to substantiate those rumors.

Of course, there is also the possibility that Renner might team up with Douglas in the Ant-Man sequel. Director Peyton Reed said the actor will have a major part in Ant-Man and The Wasp. He explained, “We have tons of notes and things we set up in this movie [Ant-Man]โ€ฆMichael and Hank Pym [are] gonna be a huge part of the movie, still.”

There is already a precedent in the MCU for Ant-Man working together with Hawkeye. Fans saw the two heroes band with Captain America earlier this year in Captain America: Civil War. However, the Ant-Man that fans saw in the film wasn’t Douglas’ Hank Pym but Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang. However, there was a previous version of the blockbuster that included Douglas, but it was eventually passed over to make room for other heroes.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated for release July 6, 2018.
