Thor: Ragnarok promises to take the God of Thunder in a whole new direction later this fall. Fans first got a sneak peek at that new style during last year’s San Diego Comic Con, which gave viewers a hilarious documentary-style short directed by Ragnarok director Taika Waititi. The short, entitled ‘Team Thor’, showed Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth) laying low during the events of Captain America: Civil War.

One of the highlights of that short – and the subsequent sequel – was Thor’s new roommate, Darryl (Danny Pearson). With Pearson and Hemsworth proving to be a good comedic duo, many have hoped that they would see more of Darryl in some form in Thor’s subsequent Marvel Cinematic Universe outings, even campaigning for a Netflix sitcom about the two.
According to Chris Hemsworth himself, fans could see more of Darryl down the line – it just won’t be in Ragnarok. While speaking at the Supanova convention in Sydney, Australia, Hemsworth revealed that Pearson will not reprise his role in Ragnarok, but very well could in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War.
Chris confirms that Daryl will NOT appear in Ragnarok. Possibly in Infinity War though… #ChrisHemsworth #Supanova

Considering the cosmic settings in Ragnarok, it makes sense that Darryl most likely wouldn’t be able to make an appearance. But judging by set photos, much of Infinity War will be occurring on Earth. And Thor is lacking in non-superpowered human acquaintances, now that Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster has essentially been written out of the franchise. With that in mind, it’s not implausible that fans could see a small appearance from Darryl in the already-massive cast of Infinity War.
Thor: Ragnarok currently has a 4.24 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the second-most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers. How excited are you for Thor: Ragnarok? Let us know by giving it your own anticipation rating below.
In Marvel Studio’s Thor Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarokโthe destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilizationโat the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first, he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avengerโthe Incredible Hulk!
Thor: Ragnarok is inspired by the classic The Mighty Thor comics of Walt Simonson and the Incredible Hulk storyline “Planet Hulk” by Greg Pak, Carlo Pagulayan and Aaron Lopresti. “Planet Hulk” saw Hul shot into space by several of Marvel’s biggest heroes. Though they intended him to land on an uninhabited planet where he could live out his days peacefully, he instead landed on Sakaar, a planet ruled by a cruel emperor. There, Hulk was forced to fight in a gladiatorial arena until he and his Warbound banded together to overthrow the emperor in an armed insurrection.
Thor Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi from a screenplay by Eric Pearson and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.
Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
