It looks like Marvel Studios may be sending out its snipers to one unfortunate soul soon. Avengers: Infinity War is one of the company’s most anticipated projects, but a reportedly leaked picture from the movie’s set might have just gone public, and it teases some huge story points.

The photo’s origin is unclear, but it is quickly moving around the Marvel Studios Reddit. No parties have commented on the reported leak, but netizens have done some sleuthing to confirm its veracity. If you look above Doctor Strange’s dialogue, you can find the name Jesse Olivares on the monitor. Fans discovered the man works on Infinity War a key video assist engineer, and Olivares has worked on a slew of other Marvel projects over the years. Right now, fans are feeling confident there is likely some truth behind the leaked image, but here’s no telling who made the photo to public.
As for the photo itself, there is plenty of unpack from the photo. In the bottom right-hand corner, fans can see a blurry image of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. The footage looks like a raw CGI cut, and there is dialogue printed at the bottom. Doctor Strange appears to be saying, “Peter! Protect them. They’re not dead.”
The shot also appears to show Doctor Strange flying towards Spider-Man who is in the suit Tony Stark made for him at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. If Peter is thinking his comrades are dead, then Thanos may have been able to use his Infinity Stones to mess with Peter’s mind, and Doctor Strange might be using his astral projection skills to help ground the boy. Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Holland have said their characters will become a duo in the third Avengers flick, so a scene like this wouldn’t not be surprising.
Plus, there is a precedent for Spider-Man thinking his team mates are dead. Thanos does actually wind up offing the Avengers in the Infinity War & Infinity Gauntlet comics before they get revived by another entity. Mark Ruffalo recently even said everyone dies in the next film, so this could be a nod to the Hulk star’s comments.
If Thanos is messing with the minds of the Avengers, then the other panels may begin to make sense. In the bottom left-hand shot, fans can see someone who looks like Scarlet Witch lying amongst some rubble. In the frame above her, it seems like Quicksilver is standing at the end of a tunnel, so the Avengers film may bring back Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s character just to mess with Wanda’s head. There has been no word about the actor returning for this film, so the shot stands as one of the biggest hurdles in verifying the leak’s accuracy.
For now, fans can only wait and see how this reported leak plays out, but evidence continues to mount in support of the image. Marvel Studios will likely never give a direct yes-or-no on its origins, but the newly found image is either real or one hell of a fake. However, fans will only find out how true that is when Avengers: Infinity War does hit theaters next year.
