Recently, Chris Hemsworth came stateside to promote Thor: Ragnarok at San Diego Comic Con. The star took time to speak with IGN after Marvel Studios’ panel, and it was there Hemsworth revealed Thor: Ragnarok sets up his character’s first appearance in Avengers: Infinity War.
When Hemsworth was asked if the third Thor film sets up the next Avengers film, the actor had this to say: “It is. I think so. I think you’ll have to watch our film first to understand what Avengers is about.”
If you have been out of the MCU loop as of late, then you may be confused about Thor and his encounter with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel Studios shared footage of Avengers: Infinity War at D23 and SDCC that has since leaked, and it is said to show an unconscious Thor drifting out in space. The god of thunder then bumps into the Guardians of the Galaxy when the interstellar team drives the Milano through a swatch of wreckage.
Of course, fans have expected Thor: Ragnarok to lead into the third Avengers film; The movie is one of two final films to drop before Avengers: Infinity War has its debut. Black Panther will hit theaters a couple months before Thanos makes his tyrannical return to cinemas. And, when the Avengers blockbuster does go public, fans should expect to see Thor piece together how much danger the universe is in thanks to the Mad Titan.
