The early reviews for Thor: Ragnarok are starting to come out, but Rotten Tomatoes probably didn’t expect the film hitting its current score.

Ragnarok is hitting the ground running, as the film currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, so far it is only critics rating it, so that will likely go down once general audiences start seeing it in theaters, but that is still rather impressive.
The average rating at the moment is 7.7 out of 10, and there are 30 reviews for the film in total. Reviews are quite subjective of course, but there are a few things that stand out as common positives.
The first of those is the film’s embracing of its subject matter. Thor as a character is much less grounded in realism and politics than other his fellow Avengers, something you quickly realize when you understand that to Thor magical hammers, rainbow bridges, and magical goats named Toothgnasher are all part of his makeup.
It seems Ragnarok embraces this and allows the actors to not only have fun with it but to flourish in it, and that quickly sets it apart from other Thor and Marvel Studios movies.
The second common aspect is just how funny it is, which of course stems from the first point. Taika Waititi utilizes his actor’s comedic talents expertly and doesn’t hold back on delivering jokes and fun banter at a rapid pace. This is evident in Chris Nashawaty’s review, which states “Ragnarok is basically a Joke Delivery System – and on that score, it works. The movie is fun.”
Third, it just seems like Thor and Hulk have enormous chemistry, and the two teal the show whenever they are on screen together. Brian Truitt highlights this in his review when he states “Even tonal issues can’t upend the magic this movie taps into putting Thor and Hulk together as new best buddies, whether they’re throwing down in an arena or having a bromantic heart to heart.”
GQ’s Alex Godfrey puts the movie in great perspective when he says “This film is a glorious carnival of nonsense.” That just seems like the perfect way to spend a few hours, and fans can see it for themselves when Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3.
