During a recent interview with Deadline, Emily VanCamp sat down to talk at TCA about her career. It was there the actress was asked about her tenure with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and VanCamp admitted she had been approached about starring on Agents of SHIELD.

I think it was discussed, but I was working on Revenge at the time,” the star recalled.

Having debuted in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Sharon’s spot in Agents of SHIELD would not have been without precedence. Jasper Sitwell wound up appearing on the ABC drama shortly before his secret Hydra loyalties were made public. Sharon’s appearance would have given fans a bit more context about her role in the MCU, but Captain America: Civil War did delve deeper into Peggy Carter’s niece to make up for it.

Of course, Sharon and Jasper are not the only MCU characters who’ve been tied to Agents of SHIELD. Nick Fury famously appeared on the show at the end of season one. Samuel L. Jackson reprised his role as the trench-coat wearing SHIELD director to help stop Hydra. Thor’s ally Sif has also joined the show on a couple occasions to shine a light on the MCU’s inter-dimensional flair.

The regular cast features Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie, and John Hannah as Holden Radcliffe.

The fifth season of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will debut this coming Winter, consist of 22 episodes, and is shifting from Tuesday to Friday nights and airing at 9 p.m — taking over The Inhumans timeslot.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD was co-created by Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog), who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Jessica Jones, Daredevil). Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios.
