Avengers: Infinity War is set to bring many of the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s characters face-to-face. As expected, new dynamics between characters will blossom from that encounter – including a rather surprising one for a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Karen Gillan, who brings Nebula to life in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, recently revealed to Fandango that her character will form a bond with a surprising MCU character in Infinity War.
“I know who her new BFF is,” Gillan revealed. “And I can’t tell you. I can’t. I promise you it’s brilliant and unexpected and just so good.”
Fans have already begun to speculate who that mystery friend could be, with guesses ranging from Avengers android Vision (Paul Bettany) to the also metal-armed Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), to even Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd).
All guesses aside, Gillan revealed that Nebula will be on primarily good terms with many of her Infinity War team members, as the task at hand will cause the heroes to put aside any differences and band together.
“Ooh… I don’t know about any frenemies,” Gillan explained. “She is on a clear mission, as everybody is, to deal with someone with a glove, and I think that is the most important issue. So I think people are grouping together to take care of this task.”
For Nebula, the task of defeating her father Thanos – and saving the universe in the process – will certainly be a priority. Gillan has already expressed a desire to bring Nebula’s Infinity Gauntlet storyline to life, which culminates in the antihero taking the gauntlet for herself. Whether or not that will happen – and whether or not Nebula’s new best friend will help her with that task – has yet to be seen.
As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment – the fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.
