Josh Brolin has the unique opportunity to play both Thanos and Cable, but what if the two characters were combined?

That’s the subject of BossLogic’s latest piece. Using Brolin’s debut as Cable from Deadpool 2, the artist gave the time-travelling mutant a Thanos upgrade. Granted, there’s no purple skin, but this Cable has the ability to rewrite the cosmos with his newly obtained Infinity Gauntlet. Illuminated with the Infinity Stones, his glowing yellow eye is also replaced with a blue glow, making that shushing gesture of his all the more intimidating.

As for Brolin’s double duty, Deadpool 2 director David Leitch revealed why both Fox and Marvel were fine with it.

“I think everybody in sort of the Marvel and Fox world considered it, and they take their time and make measured moves,” Leitch explained in an interview with CinemaBlend. “But I think everyone thought it was prudent and was okay in terms of the way Thanos is portrayed and Cable is portrayed. They’re very different in styles, and in terms of the way they are presented in the movies, obviously.”

It makes sense, as Thanos is, of course, the big bad of the MCU, and Cable is a curmudgeonly anti-hero who ultimately wants the best for mankind. Plus you know, there’s that whole covered in Grimace-colored paint thing going for Thanos, so it isn’t like someone’s going to get the two confused.

The Internet is responding well to Cable’s first look, and for the most part, fans are also reacting well to Domino’s first look. Deadpool 2 seems to be moving in the right direction.

Deadpool 2 currently has a 4.06 out of 5 on ComicBook.com’s anticipation rankings, and you can submit your vote here. The official description is included below.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool 2 hits theaters on June 1, 2018.
