After plenty of searching, 20th Century Fox is making good on yet another news update for Deadpool 2. Not long ago, a source close to the film reported that Drew Goddard has been brought on board to pen the sequel’s script.
ComicBook received a hat-tip about the status of Deadpool 2 and its on-going script details. Brandon Davis learned that Drew Goddard has been brought in to pen the script while Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese bow out either temporarily or permanently.

Collider is also reporting that Ryan Reynolds is bunkering down with Goddard to get the script finished. With Goddard in, it now appears that both Wernick and Reese are out for the time being at least. The pair have been with the franchise since the first film debuted last year, and Reynolds has had a favorable work relationship with them so far. For now, the writers may be taking a back seat on the script while Goddard gives it a treatment. It’s unclear whether the duo have permanently tidied their hands of the job.
Right now, everything is still in the works for Deadpool 2. The much-anticipated sequel is set to begin filming later this year. Cameras will start rolling in Vancouver on May 1 for the movie with the working title Love ‘Machine.’
With Goddard involved, fans will surely become anxious over the state of Deadpool 2. Still, fans must keep in mind that the writer has a history with superhero projects. Goddard helped bring Daredevil to life over on Netflix, and the writer has also worked on projects like The Martian and Cabin in the Woods. And, at one point, he was even said to be tapped as director for Fox’s now-debunk Sinister Six film.
