Ryan Reynolds is a man of not-so-simple requests. The actor hasn’t shied away from all the crossovers he wants Deadpool to do, but there’s one mash-up Reynolds has only dreamt about. In a new interview, the actor took time to share his vision for a must-see crossover between Deadpool and the Avengers.

Recently, the actor sat down with Total Film (via Heroic Hollywood) for a chat, and it was there Reynolds described his dream Marvel crossover. When the star was asked if he’d be down for Deadpool to crossover with the Avengers, he had this to say:
“That sounds like a great idea but a very expensive idea. Can you imagine the shit-talking contest with Iron Man? Oh, that would be great,” Reynolds said. “It would have to be rated R to completely unharness everybody. Unbridle the merriment and watch them goโฆ”
Of course, Deadpool does have a complicated connection with the Avengers in the comics. The mouthy mercenary has allied himself with the team at times and gone against its members at other points. Wade Wilson’s relationship with heroes such as Spider-Man and Hawkeye have become fan-favorite ones in recent years, but moviegoers should not expect the franchises to crossover.
Why? Well, you can thank film rights for that. Deadpool rests squarely with 20th Century Fox while the Avengers live with Marvel Studios. There’s little chance the two companies will ever reach an agreement to crossover the series, so it looks like Reynold’s fantasy will have to remain just that for the foreseeable future.
The Avengers crossover isn’t the only one Reynolds has had to give up this year. Shortly after Logan debuted this spring, the star repeated his interest in seeing a Wolverine, Deadpool crossover. During a interview with Empire, Reynolds admitted, “I love that kind of stuff. I loved doing Wolverine ’cause the movie wasn’t on my shoulders. I got to kind of come in and insult everybody. It was a lot of fun actually…But it’s so, so far into the R-rated zoneโฆ It’s a nearly NC-17 world and I just don’t know if the studio would ever risk their reputation doing it. We’ve been developing it and we would never wanna do it unless you could it that R-rated way.”
