Oh, boy. Here we go again. When Deadpool hit theaters last summer, fans were hyped to see the mouthy merc get his live-action debut courtesy of Ryan Reynolds. The actor brought the fan-favorite Marvel character to life with raunchy ease, and he was joined on-screen by several other heroes. Of course, fans were introduced to two X-Men characters known as Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Deadpool so kindly pointed out the pair were all the movie could afford to bring in.

UP NEXT: Deadpool 2 Will Have A Lot Of Characters

And, apparently, 20th Century Fox is keeping the budget reigned in for its X-Men cameos. In an interview with Collider, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick confirmed that the two X-Men characters would be back for Deadpool 2.

When asked about the duo, Wernick hedged on saying how much they are involved, but Reese confirmed the site’s suspicion. “I think we can say. Yeah, they’ll be in the sequel,” he said.

Wernick then added, “Yeah, they’ll make at least an appearance.”

Of course, fans don’t have any more word on what the two characters will be up to, but plenty are hoping the pair will get some more on-screen shenanigans. The chemistry between the X-Men and Deadpool was hilarious intense during the first film’s climatic battle. However, there may be risk in giving the two additional screen time. The writers have also warned fans that the sequel will be jam-packed with characters.

The pair told Deadline, “Yeah, it’ll be a solo movie. It’ll be populated with a lot of characters, but it is still Deadpool’s movie, this next one. We’re pushing forward very hard. I think by every account we will shoot it this year, and we’re on our multiple draft now. It’s taken different twists and turns, but it’s really coalescing, and we’re very, very excited.”

“We’re a little nervous, because now we feel like we have to live up to the first movie, but at the same time, we have to have faith, and we have an extreme passion still, and as long as we have passion still, and it’s not a mercenary, venal play, which we don’t think this is, I think we’ll be in good shape.”

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Deadpool stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand and Stefan Kapiฤiฤ‡.
