Many stories feature teamups between Spider-Man, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Punisher, and others under the Marvel Studios-and-Television banner.
But while Spidey has gone toe to toe with the Kingpin in many stories, we shouldn’t expect to see that happen on the screen.
Reiterating with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige already stated, Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts revealed that there are no plans for future films in the Spider-Man series to feature any of The Defenders characters from the Netflix shows.
The reveal came courtesy of Watts’ Skype Q&A session at the Supanova Comic Con currently taking place in Sydney, Australia.
Jon Watts says that there are no plans to have #TheDefenders appear in any future Spider-man films. Cool idea though. #Supanova

While this may seem disappointing, it’s hardly surprising given the amount of separation between the various television series and film franchises. Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has always danced between the raindrops of the movies, while the Netflix series have often made mention of “The Incident” and its devastating impact on New York City.
But the movies have remained isolated from the events of the shows, often dealing with much bigger pictures and larger stakes to recognize some of the smaller moments from the shows.
It would be nice to see Coulson show up once more in an Avengers movie, its highly unlikely in the grand scheme of thing. Feige’s Marvel Studios and Ike Perlmutter’s Marvel Television remain distinct entities, despite sharing a few key concepts that present the illusion that #ItsAllConnected.
We don’t expect that to change any time soon.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released on July 7, 2017.
