Heroes tend to evolve over time in all facets, including their abilities, their personalities, their relationships, and especially their means of transportation. That is especially true of the spirit of vengeance himself Ghost Rider.

The title of Ghost Rider has been carried by a few different people, and each one has evolved the iconic motorcycle as they’ve gone along. The talented crew over at GearHeads decided to visualize that evolution in the form of a gif, which shows the bike’s transformation from its rather basic origins all the way to the newest iteration in the form of a Charger in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. They’re huge fans of not only the character but all the motorcycles he’s driven over the years.
Originally the bike was pretty standard looking with a blue and silver paint job, but that would later change to be almost completely orange, including the flaming wheels. Over time it became longer and sleeker, with stylings closer to a chopper than a traditional Harley-Davidson. At one point during the late 1990’s, the bike got a bit bulkier with more angular armor and a shield-like windshield.
In the character’s transition to film, the more chopper-like motorcycles were used for both Ghost Rider 1 & 2, but the latest version actually features a Dodge Charger as his hellfire vehicle of choice, which is based on the Robbie Reyes version of the character.
Each version of his iconic vehicle has its fans and naysayers, but it can’t be argued how important the vehicle, whichever form it takes, is to the Ghost Rider character overall, and he just wouldn’t be as cool without it.
The newest version of Ghost Rider can be seen on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, which airs on Tuesdays on ABC.
