In just over a month, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will get yet another expansion thanks to the Guardians of the Galaxy. The ragtag team of intergalactic heroes will make a long-awaited comeback to theaters when their sequel blockbuster debuts. The new film will see Chris Pratt suit back up as Star-Lord alongside other heroes like Gamora and Groot. And, now, it looks like an official rating has been given to the highly anticipated film.
Over on Twitter, Stitch Kingdom relayed reports which confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 would be rated PG-13 like its predecessor. The rating was given due to sci-fi action and violence, brief suggestive content, and language. The site has broken news on prior superhero films, and many fans were expecting such a rating to go public. After all, the Guardians are family friendly when compared to the likes of Deadpool and Logan. Marvel would lose out on a major audience pool if they gave the film a grittier rating, and the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise doesn't quite suit the ultra-violent aesthetic.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is not the only superhero movie to get its rating as of late. Not long ago, Wonder Woman had its rating revealed, and fans were not surprised to see the female-led flick was given a PG-13 rating as well.
Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
