James got started in Hollywood by starring in several episodes of The Nanny before joining several shows such as Saved by the Bell and Disturbing Behavior. However, fans know James best for his work on the X-Men film franchise.
Cast as Scott Summers/Cyclops, James was thrust into the international spotlight as he took on one of the franchise’s main characters. The actor’s portrayal of the mutant was praised by fans, leaving many to protest when the actor’s screentime was shortened in films like X-Men: The Last Stand. James also returned to cameo in X-Men: Days of Future Past alongside other X-Men alums, and he has said he’d be interested in reprising his role for future films.
Since X-Men, James has gone on to star in multiple films such as Superman Returns, The Notebook, Hairspray, Enchanted, and 27 Dresses. Most recently, fans have seen James star in several independent films like Robot & Frank and is slated to star in an upcoming Nicholas Sparks film titled The Best of Me. The actor will also appear in HBO’s highly anticipated series Westwood.
