In just a matter of weeks, Netflix will be bringing yet another Marvel icon to its formidable line-up of heroes. After having brought Daredevil to Jessica Jones to life, Iron Fist will be getting his own standalone series in March. The mystical martial artist will be the fourth hero born from Netflix’s partnership with Marvel, and Danny Rand will be the last hero to join before The Defenders premieres. And, now, a brand-new image of Rand fighting with an unfamiliar foe has hit the Internet.

Not long ago, Empire shared an exclusive photo of Finn Jones dressed in-character whilst fighting an armed opponent. Rand can be seen wearing all black and blocking the arm of another person who is seen gripping a knife. The two fighters appear to be going head-to-head in a barebones facility. A stack of wood pallets are shown behind the two while a large red banner hangs behind them. A massive Chinese character can be seen partially sticking out of the bottom.
The publication had a chance to speak with Jones about his starring role in the show. The British actor told Empire some of Rand’s first struggles when he reenters New York after being in K’un Lun for so long.
“Danny has to deal with society’s reaction,” Jones explained. “He comes back and says: ‘Hey, guess what? I’ve been in this place called K’un Lun for years, I’ve got this thing called the Iron Fist and I met a dragon!’ And everybody’s like, ‘What the f*ck are you talking about? You’re insane.’”
Fifteen years after being presumed dead in a plane crash, Danny Rand (Finn Jones) mysteriously returns to New York City determined to reclaim his birthright and family company. However, when a long-destined enemy rises in New York, this living weapon is forced to choose between his family’s legacy and his duties as the Iron Fist.
Marvel’s Iron Fist was developed by Scott Buck. The Netflix series stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, a martial arts expert with the ability to call upon the power of the Iron Fist. The cast also includes Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, and Rosario Dawson.
Iron Fist was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane for Marvel Comics. Iron Fist made his first appearance in Marvel Premiere #15 in 1974. Though he has headlined his own series, he is best known for being Luke Cage’s partner in the Heroes for Hire.
Marvel’s Iron Fist premieres March 17, 2017 exclusively on Netflix.
