When you have a film like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, rules are meant to be broken not only on the screen but within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe entirely. The movie had an MCU-high five scenes cut in throughout the credits, one of which introduced nearly all of the original Guardians of the Galaxy.

After the death of fellow Ravager/original Guardian Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker) โ€” oops, spoiler alert โ€” Stakar Ogord/Starhawk (Slyvester Stallone) rallies the troops together and get back to ravaging. The post-credits scene shows Starhawk talking to Aleta Ogord (Michelle Yeoh), Charle-27 (Ving Rhames), Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum), Mainframe (Miley Cyrus), and a serpent-like creature named Krugarr.

Now, thanks to brilliant concept artist Ian Joyner, we have one of the best looks at a full-bodied Krugarr. In the concept art, we see a comic-accurate red-skinned Krugarr wearing a jet pack of sorts complete with the Ravager patch on his shoulder.

Even though that one mid-credits scene included many characters that were vastly unknown to movie-goers, they all share some sort of connection in the comics.

Martinex and Charlie-27 were half of the original Guardians team along with Yondu and Vance Astro, a character we didn’t see in the movie. The four first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #18 (1969) and later had a 62-issue run in 1990s, which took place during the 31st century in the Earth-691 timeline.

As Doctor Strange ascending to the role as the Ancient One, Krugarr then went on to become the 31st century Sorcerer Supreme, aiding the Guardians on several occasions.
