Marvel’s The Inhumans series has cast its Karnak. The role will be filled by LOST and X-Men: The Last Stand veteran actor Ken Leung.

Leung’s Karnak is Black Bolt’s cousin, who we learned earlier this week would be played by Hell on Wheels‘ Anson Mount with his queen Medusa being portrayed by Serinda Swan. Karnak serves as the closest advisor to Black Bolt, with a gift of being able to see the fault in people, plans, structures, and all things otherwise.

A previous casting call for Karnak revealed a few details about the character, saying he is, “always prepared with a plan, his outlook on life is the glass is always half-empty and often cracked and dirty as well.”

Fitting the role of Leung’s Miles Straum on LOST, Karnak’s “outlook can be grim,” as “he has a droll, dry sense of humor,” according to the same call.

In X3, Leung played Quill, while he is best known for the sarcastic role of Miles Straum on ABC’s LOST. He has also appeared in The Sopranos, Rush Hour, Keeping The Faith, and, most recently, NBC’s The Night Shift.

“Ken brings both a wisdom and a power to the role that no one else could match. His Karnak will be awesome,” said Marvel head of television and executive producer, Jeph Loeb.

Showrunner and executive producer Scott Buck added, “Ken Leung has a great natural intelligence that reads clearly and will add depth and complexity to the very complicated character of Karnak.”

Marvel’s The Inhumans will debut its first two episodes in IMAX this September before airing eight episodes on Tuesday nights on ABC. Based on characters created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965, the series will be executive produced by Jim Chory, along with Loeb, and Buck. Roel Reine is in place to direct the first two episodes.

For Leung, this is a trip back to the familiar islands of Hawaii, where LOST filmed for six years (three of which he was involved with) and Inhumans is gearing up to shoot. He will not be returning to The Night Shift for its fourth season.
