Earlier this month, Marvel began work on yet another television series when Cloak & Dagger got underway. The Freeform series will adapt one of the company’s comics the superhero duo to life. With casting complete and a director tapped for the show’s first episode, thins are moving along with the series, and Gina Prince-Bythewood has been happy to keep fans updated. Taking to Instagram, the director shared a simple photo of her set chair from the show’s filming location, but it is what’s in the chair that has fans buzzing.

In the seat, fans can see a slew of papers featuring what appears to be dialogue. While much of the text is indecipherable, some handwritten notes at the bottom of a left-hand page have sparked attention. The notes describe a series of filming cues which hint at a rather tragic scene. You can check out the transcribed notes below:
“Tandy POV – DAD – Car bag (already exploded – Tandy shakes DAD wide and tight & Tandy in frame.” The next set of notes then read, “DAD w/ water up to chin…[Tandy] shaking up Dad, air bag fluctuating, DAD dead.”
The scene description certainly sounds harrowing, and it would give Cloak & Dagger some melodrama if it makes it to film. For now, it seems like Tandy’s mother is not involved with the accident, and the supposed crash could help differentiate the Freeform show from its comic book predecessor.
In the comics, Tandy is estranged from her father after he leaves to seek spiritual enlightenment in India. With her dad out of the way, Tandy forms a tense relationship with her affluent mother who remarries, and the young girl feels neglected by her parents. The show may give Tandy a more substantial relationship with her father growing up, and his possible death may act as the catalyst that splits Tandy from her mother.
After all, the current synopsis for Cloak & Dagger teases that Tandy’s family is “destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life.” A rainy day would be the appropriate setting for a gloomy accident such as this, and the melodramatic moment would suit any aspiring teen drama.
It is a coming-of-age series based on the beloved Marvel characters. Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) come from starkly different backgrounds, each growing up with a secret they never dared share with another soul.
Once a privileged little girl, Tandy Bowen watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, an unexpected encounter with a boy named Tyrone sparks a life changing event.
Young Tyrone Johnson wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered, Tyrone closes himself off. But when he meets a girl named Tandy his life changes forever.
Living the dream. Will never ever get old. #cloakanddagger
