Panel Questions
Opening Comments:
Roel Reine, “People kept thinking that IMAX cameras were big refrigerators, but they have digital ones now. The people at IMAX brought one to Los Angeles and I was tossing it around, and they were so nervous that I was tossing it around, but I asked if they had a wider lens and so they built us one for just this show.”
Scott Brook, “The best way to think of this show is that they are humans with super powers and as you will see as you watch this show is that the powers are not always an asset but can be seens as a crutch that they have relied on for so long. It is not always going ot be something helpful to them.”
Iwon, “It was really cool to think of Maximum to show a different side of him. To try and make things better who are living in the caste system and the confrontation between the brothers. So that is where you find Maximum in this one. He is more of an antagonist than a villian. There are no clear villains in this. The idea is that he is a passionate politician and not a villain.”
Sonya, “Mike and I got to do great stunts and work with great stunt trainers and coreographers. I had to learn to box and punch properly. This role required mych more than I anticipated. Fighting in the jungle in full suit of leather took more than I expected out of it. So I hope people enjoy the scenes of fighting in the jungle.”
Mike Moh, “Tae Kwon Do since I was five and a world champion, so having the action in the show and using my talents is really cool. And like Sonya said, you guys are going to enjoy the action.”
Isabelle, “A lot of time I was acting to the air, so I was making up a great relationshgip with Lockjaw. If you saw from afar youd think this lady was crazy. In my audition I was asked to pretend that a giant head was coming at me and I had no idea what it was, but I was running around the room and acting to the air. And really, that is what I did in the show. I acted to air but had a real relationship and had to know when to turn and when to do what.”
Scenes From Inhumans
SCENE:
Slow zoom in, looks like LOST.
Rain is falling and a woman is running through the jungle being chased by a team of military with automatic rifles.
Rain is in slow motion and pulsing music plays. Triton comes into the scene from the woods, “Your safe, your one of us.” … “What are we…” “We are inhumans.” … “So I am freak.” … “No what if i tell you there is a place where we are all like you.”
Gunfire.. “RUN” …
Chase scene through the woods where the girl gets shot and Triton is now chased by himself and shot at. He is hit and still pursued before jumping off the cliffs and into the ocean.
“Mission accomplished,” says the military leader.
END SCENE
DINNER SEQUENCE
Panning around of the whole family.
Iwon asking about secret missions. People are denying knowledge of the mission, believing that Triton is dead.
Black Bolt speaks in sign language to be translated by two others to Maximus. Clearly creating tensions between the two.
Maximus, “We should be going in there. We should be going now.”
Black Bolt signs, “Not now, Trust your King”
All rise, Maxiums walks out.
“Maximus right or wrong is dangerous, you think you are being tough on him but you are not, he has the ear of the people…. regardless, you have my loyalty, never doubt that.”
The rest of the family sounds their differences and exits as well, leaving Black Bolt with just his wife at the table, in silence.
END SCENE
GORGON FIGHT SCENE
Karnack working on a gadget, interupted by military, “On the order of KING Maximus.”
Maximus walking through the house, giving orders to “Take him out.” (Him is unknown)
Maxiums now looking upon the throne where Black Bolt should be, with the traditional logo on the wall.
Gorgon now being surrounded by military, says, “Never approach downwind, dumbass.” Stomps on the ground and shakes the earth, stunning military and then he beats them all up.
Karnack, also now in a battle with a military detachment, can detach himself from the scene and “see the outcome” and read things in differnt ways… which his first vision doenst work, so he tries again and defeats the group.
END SCENE.
More Panel Q&A
*6:46 pm PT*
Ellen Wogtom plays Louise. She is an original character to the show. She is a human that be-friends the rest.
“I thought there was a levity in the script that I enjoyed doing that KIND OF made up for not having super powers… that I am determined to get. But hey, its only season one.”
* 6:54pm PT*
Anson, “I couldnt imagine ever coming across this acting challenge again, so I wanted to leap at it and so Jeph immediately knew what I would ask about and so he got me the best help inside the signing community. I would have to learn how sign systems work and not just by watching signers, but orchestra conductors and I built my own lexicon. I had a collaborator that took it as seriously as I did. Serinda and I worked very well in that capacity.”
Serinda talking about ‘translating’ for Black Bolt, “It was basically a scene, I would see, there is his part and then my part, but then realized I had to say both parts. The duality of that is harder because usually you play off someone and we didnt have that or had to create it.
When there is the scene like you just saw, there is emotion to queue off of it. When it is a more intimate scene between two of us, I am talking to myself and that is it. Madusa has a strong opinion and so as you pay attention there will be times that I dont sign what he is saying.”
*700 pm PT*
Eme Ikwakor, “It was cool playing Gorgon had a way of expressing myself and learning things about myself. I would go around town and think, ‘i am doing some Gorgonian things,’ sometimes I found myself just acting off of impulse. Discovering more about him. The size; the scope, and I learned more about my own strength.”
Isabelle Cornish said, “Eme chest pressed me like 34 times…”
Eme, “I could have done it all day. That is what is crazy.”
*710 pm*
Loeb, “In the first two hours there are 600 special effects edits.”
Iwon, “I looked into who this Maximus guy was and I was worried that I was just doing the same thing over again and that I would be type-cast. But you convinced me that we coudl do something unique and different with this character.
“He went through a taragenisis and he became nothing. In this society where your status is based on what power you have and he should have been working the mines but is in the position that he is simply because he is in the brother of the king. So he feels like he can do things better than the king and so now he is motivated to be a revolutionary and a forward thinker and try to change the world for hte better for the people that he identifies with. He is still ruthless, but he loves his people and his family, but it is a lonely world. His belief in what he is doing and what he thinks is right, and he is tyring to stop suffering and the cost of hte desicions he makes starts to shape him and it is quite a MacBeth-type vibe.”
