Marvel’s The Punisher has created quite a tizzy on social media over the past month, thanks to a series of teases for the upcoming series. But now, a new hint either made things clearer, or much much worse.

The official Facebook page for The Punisher posted a new Facebook status earlier today, with almost all of it redacted. The message, which you can see below, is almost entirely replaced by black boxes, aside from the words “is not”.

As with much of The Punisher‘s marketing, fans have gone out of their way to decode what the message could possibly mean. Some suggestions have included references to certain characters, such as Will Rawlins (Paul Schulze). While others have suggested that the statement is more esoteric, such as the “revenge is not a valid motive” quote from the 2004 Punisher film.

This status is the latest Punisher promo to confuse fans, with the first teaser going out of its way to redact the series’ premiere date. We have gotten some answers, though, such as the season one episode titles that were revealed through Morse Code. Fans have also been treated to plenty of photos and a new synopsis for the upcoming Netflix series. Hopefully fans will find out more about the series – including what this Facebook message means – very soon.

Marvel and Netflix still have not revealed the official release date for The Punisher, but it is expected to begin streaming sometime this fall.
