There’s no arguing the fact that Michael Rooker is best known for his role as Merle Dixon on AMC’s The Walking Dead. That might change when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrives and the character gets some additional depth added to his role but, for now, Rooker’s name is synonymous with the zombie apocalypse.

With the cast of the Marvel Cinematic Universe constantly growing with moves like Sylvester Stallone joining this particular film as a classic character from Marvel Comics, the idea of bringing one of Rooker’s buddies from The Walking Dead to the Marvel films is not too farfetched.

During a press event for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, ComicBook.com asked Rooker which of his The Walking Dead co-stars would be best suited for a Marvel movie.

“I think me and Norman would make a great team,” Rooker quipped.

Ironically enough, Norman ReedusDaryl Dixon character on The Walking Dead is especially skilled with a bow and arrow. It has become his iconic weapon and one of the best known symbols from the AMC series over the past seven years while Rooker’s Yondu also uses an arrow to take down hordes of enemies in the Guardians films.

“You don’t need bows in space,” Rooker joked. His Yondu certainly doesn’t. All it takes is a few whistles to take down an enemy or twenty.

Fans once put in their bids to have Reedus play Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before the honor went to Gabriel Luna on Agents of SHIELD. Still, there is inevitably a character hidden somewhere in Marvel’s long-ranging and diverse catalog of characters who Reedus could fit the bill for!

The two actors played abused siblings on The Walking Dead until Rooker’s Merle character bowed out in the show’s third season. Both were tough as nails southern boys, one of whom elected to side with Rick Grimes early on while Merle chose to follow the lead of the manipulative and evil Governor. As sad as the loss of Merle was on The Walking Dead, had he not done been killed by the one-eyed villain, Rooker may have never been free to play the part of Yondu!
