If you were hoping Inhumans would be the vehicle that brought Kamala Khan to the small-screen, think again. The head of Marvel Television just opened up about Ms. Marvel‘s live-action future, and Inhumans is not a part of it.

Well, for right now at least.
Recently, That Hashtag Show spoke with Jeph Loeb at the IMAX premiere of Inhumans. The creator was asked if fellow Inhuman Kamala Khan couldbe introduced the heroine to the MCU, but Loeb said no such plans were in development.
“At the moment there’s no plans for that to happen,” the producer confessed. “That doesn’t mean it [won’t] happen.”
Kamala may have Inhuman genes, but it would be odd for Ms. Marvel to waltz into Marvel’s Inhumans. The show is structured around Black Bolt and the Royal Family in the midst of a political crisis. After Maximus plans a coup, the Inhumans flee to Earth in order to regroup and plans their comeback against Black Bolt’s scheming brother. Ms. Marvel is a proud Inhuman, but she has little if any reason to stick her business into the series.
There is a chance that Inhumans could pave the way for Kamala’s MCU debut. In the comics, the teenager is transformed into an Inhuman after bombs of Terrigen Mist are set off around the world. Kamala assumes the mantle of Ms. Marvel after her idol Carol Danvers becomes Captain Marvel, so the heroine’s creation can be rooted in MCU lore.
After all, Agents of SHIELD did introduce Terrigenesis to the MCU as characters like Daisy Johnson came into their own superpowers. The process could have affected Kamala as well, and Captain Marvel will soon become a part of the MCU. Marvel Studios will see the heroine appear in her own standalone movie in 2019, so Ms. Marvel could get her live-action debut sometime after if Marvel so desired.
Kamala is a popular character in her own right, and Ms. Marvel has become one of Marvel’s go-to heroines in recent years. ABC has previously admitted interest in creating a female-led superhero series one day, so Kamala might just be the network’s best bet.
Marvel’s Inhumans is now playing in IMAX theaters. It will premiere on ABC on September 29th.
