The Logan trailer will be here by the end of the week, and the excitement continues to build. The film has been hailed as Hugh Jackman’s swan-song as the titular character, having appeared in eight of the franchise’s movies so far.
While the movie will focus on an older version of Wolverine – slightly following the Old Man Logan story from the comics – Logan will also spend a lot of time introducing a new character to the world of X-Men on film.

X-23 will debut in the new movie, and that’s an exciting fact for comic fans. The character is the clone of Wolverine in the comics, and he often treats her like his daughter. In the movie, they may try to follow the father/daughter dynamic even more closely. X-23 will also be the focal point of the plot.
Logan will be charged with protecting the young girl – who has powers that could surpass even his own – and she will represent the future of mutant-kind.
The official Logan Instagram account has shared a new image ahead of the new trailer, and it’s all about X-23.
The photo shows the girl (portrayed by Dafne Keen) on an old toy horse, outside of a grocery store, waiting on somebody. One could guess she’s waiting on Logan to arrive.
The caption just says “Waiting” and that could tease more than one thing. She could be waiting on Logan at the store, but it could also be a tease to the trailer. Fans are anxiously awaiting the debut of the new trailer.
Could this image be one of the trailer’s 1974 frames?
In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
The film stars Hugh Jackman (X-Men: Days of Future Past) as Logan/Wolverine and Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Charles Xavier/Professor X. The cast also includes Boyd Holbrook (Gone Girl), Richard E. Grant (Game of Thrones), Stephen Merchant (Movie 43), Eriq La Salle (ER), Elise Neal (Scream 2), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Orange is the New Black), and Dafne Keen (The Refugees).
The film is being directed by James Mangold (The Wolverine), based on a script by Michael Green (American Gods) and David James Kelly (Mind Mgmt).
Logan opens in theaters on March 3, 2017.
