Last night, a ton of new information was released regarding the future of the X-Men Cinematic Universe at 20th Century Fox.

The first piece of info was regarding the previously-announced X-Force film. It was reported that Joe Carnahan would write the script for the film, alongside Ryan Reynolds. Some sources stated that Carnahan would also direct the movie.

The second bit of information focused on Deadpool 2, specifically the current status of it’s script. The initial report suggested that Drew Goddard was now assisting Ryan Reynolds on a new version of the script. This meant that Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese – the writers of the first film – had been replaced going forward.

Where there is probably still truth to Goddard’s inclusion in the writing process, Ryan Reynolds spoke out against the rumors. He quoted one of the reports on Twitter, stating that Wernick and Reese were definitely not out of the picture.

While Reynolds’ statement clashes with most of the reports, he would be the one to know the truth about these rumors.
