Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Sean Gunn Describes Avengers: Infinity War Transition

There was little time for rest for the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy after their Vol. 2 sequel had wrapped. The actors had to head back to Atlanta to film Avengers: Infinity War under a new pair of directors having only worked under James Gunn’s lead, at that point.

Whether or not Guardians character Kraglin is a part of the massive ensemble flick, Kraglin actor Sean Gunn became a piece of the puzzle as the Rocket Raccoon motion capture performer. While speaking to ComicBook.com in anticipation of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blu-ray release, Gunn revealed what the transition to working with the Russo Brothers on Infinity War entailed.

“All directors have a little bit of a different style, and their own method of working,” Gunn said. “When you’re working with a director, or directors, for the first time, you have to sort of establish that working relationship. I don’t need to do that obviously when I work with my brother [James Gunn] because we’ve worked together for so long. The Russos are different, but I can tell you’re they’re great. I can tell you I love working with them, and I think I also identified with the idea of working with my brother as something that they do all the time, just like my brother and I do. I really enjoyed working with them, but the style’s different. No director is like any other exactly.”

As for the casts blending together, Gunn has nothing but praise for his Earth-based Marvel Cinematic Universe co-stars as one ensemble collides with another. “Oh, my gosh has it been amazing, and such a big movie, and such an amazing and huge cast,” Gunn said. “I’m glad though that it’s now out there that we get to work with Thor because now I can officially tell interviewers how handsome Chris Hemsworth is up close.”

He’s not kidding about Hemsworth’s looks, either. “It’s really intimidating,” Gunn added. “It’s like I can’t even believe he’s a real person.”

Gunn’s role as Kraglin and motion capture performance as Rocket can be seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as fans eagerly await the arrival of Avengers: Infinity War by picking up a copy of the film on blu-ray when it releases on August 22.
