Next year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will climb towards a climax when Avengers: Infinity War hits. The much-anticipated film will see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes team up with other MCU staples to take on Thanos. Spider-Man is one of the many heroes who will suit up for the film, and fans recently started to speculate whether Tom Holland’s character would be getting a new suit for the feature. However, according to the actor, Peter Parker will still be sporting his classic duds.

Recently, Holland sat down for an interview with BadTaste to talk about Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s impending release. The actor was asked if the motion-capture work he’s done on Avengers: Infinity War implies he will be getting a new suit soon. Holland quickly debunked such rumors and explaining the CGI work was much more practical than previously believed.

“I think that’s because my suit sometimes when you’re doing stuff where so much CGI is happening behind you, it’s easier to CGI everything,” Holland explained.

“I just show up and do as I’m told. So, I think that’s because there’s so much CGI going on on that set that its easier to just paint the Homecoming suit onto my body rather than me wear and them have to paint over it.”

When Holland was then asked directly if Spider-Man would be getting a new suit, the actor had this to say: “No, it’s not going to be different. I don’t think so. It’s the same suit.”

Of course, the actor could be covering up for Marvel Studios and its Avengers: Infinity War plans. After all, the company has been notoriously protective of the film as it tries to keep leaks to a minimum. Holland’s explanation about the suit is a convincing one though; The third Avengers flick will feature plenty of CGI thanks to its massive cast and intergalactic setting. If Spider-Man has a large role in the film, it would be difficult for post-production artists to clean up the character’s suit in every scene. Technology has advanced to a point where it would be easier for the professionals to simply overlay Peter Parker’s suit on him digitally. However, it seems unlikely that Holland is complaining about the change. The star has said his Spider-Man costume is a rather uncomfortable one after all.
