Spider-Man: Homecoming – 5 Characters Logan Marshall-Green Might Be

Earlier today news came out that Logan Marshall-Green is in talks to join the cast of Sony and Marvel Studios upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming.

According to those same reports (via THR), the actor is being considered for a villainous role, and would be joining Michael Keaton in the film, who is playing The Vulture. Since we here at ComicBook.com can’t help but speculate on what his role might be, we’ve offered up a few options for you to peruse through as to what character the actor could play.

Marshall-Green most recently starred in the Television series Quarry but has two other projects in production (three if Spider-Man: Homecoming gets confirmed). He will star in Black Dog, Red Dog, which is being Directed by Adriana Cepeda Espinosa and James Franco, and also stars Chloe Sevigny, Franco, and Olivia Wilde, which comes out sometime this year. He’s also starring in the Fernando Coimbra Directed Sand Castle, alongside Henry Cavill, Nicholas Hoult, and Tommy Flanagan.

Shocker

One of Spider-Man’s most recognizable villains is Herman Schultz, aka The Shocker.

The character has yet to appear in a Spider-Man film, and would be a great partner to Michael Keaton’s Vulture, as they have differing power sets. Shocker keeps to his namesake and uses a pair of specially designed gauntlets to shoot high impact shockwaves at his opponent.

While the gauntlets are his power source, his most recognizable quality is his yellow patchwork suit, which was designed specifically to protect the villain from the gauntlet’s feedback.

Kraven

Kraven has been one of Peter Parker’s deadliest foes and has come as close as anyone to breaking the iconic hero.

Marshall-Green is a dead ringer for a Kraven-like character, and introducing a villain like this in the first film could be a great way to set up a future encounter in a sequel down the line.

Kraven, also known as Sergei Kravinoff, happens to be the heavy favorite among the comic community.

Chameleon

Another possible choice is Dimitri Smerdyakov, otherwise known as The Chameleon.

His abilities allow him to transform into just about anyone on the spot, with very few able to tell the difference. This has been a constant thorn in Spider-Man’s side, and even though he has had a few shining moments in the comics, he was never one of the deadlier Spidey villains.

Introducing him here could be a great way to bring the character back to relevance.

Overdrive

Overdrive is the newest villain on this list, but it doesn’t make him any less entertaining.

The character, formerly part of Mister Negative’s Inner Demons gang, has the ability to transform a vehicle however he pleases by the use of nanites. It’s a very specific powerset, but one that can result in some interesting sequences.

He isn’t a great main villain, but Overdrive would definitely be a fun right-hand man.

Alistair Smythe

Our last option is none other than Alistair Smythe, leader of the Spider-Slayers.

The engineering genius inherited the family fortune and invested most of it over the years attempting to take down Spider-Man. He came close a few times and has even enhanced other Spider-Man villains like the Scorpion along the way. Regardless of what form he takes, Smythe is always a threat.

The villain was actually played by B.J. Novak in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but I imagine they would recast if the character were to make a return in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
