It has been awhile since fans have seen Pepper Potts pop into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The longtime assistant-turned-girlfriend of Tony Stark was a staple in the franchise since Iron Man debuted in 2008. However, Gwyneth Paltrow‘s take on the red-headed CEO has been absent since Iron Man 3. The character was mentioned briefly in the second Avengers film, but audiences learned more about Pepper’s fate in Captain America: Civil War last year. To everyone’s surprise, Tony admitted he and Pepper were on a break.

However, the couple’s break may be addressed in a big way soon enough. Following Civil War, fans had resigned themselves to seeing Pepper written out of the MCU, but it seems Paltrow may bring the character to life at least one more time. Reports have recently started to surface which suggest that Pepper may make a surprise return in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Over on LaineyGossip, the site reports they’ve heard sources say Paltrow will briefly star in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The appearance will mark her first since Iron Man 3 back in 2013. According to the report, the character is apparently able to return under Paltrow since Sony was apparently willing to foot the actress’ bill.
For now, no word has been given about Pepper and her rumored involvement with the Spider-Man feature. The character’s return would be an unexpected one, but Pepper would only serve to tie-in the standalone film with the MCU. Robert Downey Jr. is bringing Iron Man to the film alongside Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan. In a post-Civil War film, Pepper’s return may be used to help gauge where Iron Man is after his fallout with the Avengers. And, as fans know, the Spider-Man film has a villain with a major grudge against Tony Stark and his company. There’s little doubt that Pepper would somehow get involved with the snafu even if peripherally.
If Pepper does make an appearance in the Spider-Man movie, fans will be glad to see her. When the first trailer for the movie debuted, audiences were quick to spot an easter egg which nodded to the character. Peter Parker was seen walking with Tony Stark in the Avengers headquarters, and the shirt he was wearing was one Pepper donned in Iron Man 3. So, who knows? Maybe the lady made a visit to the bunker as well?
In Spider-Man: Homecoming, a young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine โ distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man โ but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.
