While Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theaters this weekend, many have begun to already turn their attention to the film’s sequel.
At this point, we don’t know a whole lot about the upcoming Marvel Studios film, aside from the fact that it will be set minutes after Avengers 4, will continue to feature the title character’s high school adventures, and will feature an Iron Man-like cameo from another Marvel Cinematic Universe character. But according to Peter Parker himself, Tom Holland, the general themes of the sequel are already beginning to be discussed.

“I will be on Spider-Man 2 about mid-July next year.” Holland explained to Collider. “I think the most interesting thing about a young man’s life is his journey from being a boy to a man, and imagine seeing that journey while having superpowers. That’s something I know I’m definitely excited to explore. I know Kevin [Feige] and the rest of the team are very excited to explore.”
With Homecoming pitting the web-slinger against Adrian Toomes/The Vulture (Michael Keaton), many are wondering which antagonist Spider-Man will face off against in the sequel. Holland’s response was rather vague, hinting that fans need to stay tuned on the villain front.
“Villains are obviously the big thing at the moment, but we’ll have to wait and see who we choose. Who they choose.”
Spider-Man: Homecoming was recently Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with our own Brandon Davis calling it the best on-screen film about the wall-crawler yet.
