Towards the beginning of Spider-Man: Homecoming, fans watch as Peter Parker grabs dinner with his aunt after a night prowling for criminals. The pair snag some Thai food at a local dive, but the building next to the restaurant is what’s catching attention. The nondescript building has a large glass decal on its front windows that is written in Korean. And, underneath the writing, fans can find an English translation which reads, “Korean Church of Asgard.”
So, it looks like Thor has some Korean fanatics in the MCU nowadays.
It’s not surprising to see that Thor has got his own religious cult biting at his heels; After all, the Asgardian is considered a god in the Norse religion. Mythology describes Thor as a god associated with thunder, lightning, and the protection of mankind. The pagan religion has faded away over time, but there are still sects of people who do adhere to the old religion. If Thor were to ever make himself know, those worshippers would feel rather vindicated in their faith, and a renewed interested in the Norse religion could lead to a pagan comeback.
Just, don’t expect Captain America to be on-board with the faith. After all, Steven did tell Natasha Romanoff there’s only God who probably doesn’t dress like Thor does. The Avenger may have changed his mind since then, but he might be weirded out worshipping one of his teammates and a former world-threat. That’s right, Loki; No one has forgotten you yet.
