We’re a little over a week away from seeing Spider-Man swinging into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his first full-length adventure, alongside Tony Stark, Aunt May, and a couple of other familiar characters. But Spider-Man: Homecoming is going to be different from the other big screen iterations we’ve already seen in the theaters, especially considering this movie will be set in his sophomore year of high school and will skip the entire origin story.

That means no spider bite and, unfortunately, no Uncle Ben. The movie will instead dive right into Peter Parker starting out in his heroic career, though some fans have wondered how that will affect the narrative.

“We’re really picking up โ€” in Captain America [Civil War], we really talked about the backstory, I mean the recent back story of losing Uncle Ben and now we’re kind of moving forward as a duo,” said Aunt May actor Marisa Tomei while speaking with ScreenRant. “We’re the real dynamic duo.”

Tomei addressed how Uncle Ben’s absence will impact their relationship in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

“I think there’s a shared understanding of what we’ve both been through, and it makes us very reliant on each other, and watch out for each other, and really enjoy each other as well,” Tomei said. “She’s got to be sure he’s still having fun in the midst of all his studies. Even though he’s so capable and has so much potential as a student and as a protรฉgรฉ of Stark Industries. But he also has got to get out there and have a party.”

Basically, May is the cool parent. Maybe there will be a deleted scene whey she buys Peter a sixer of Mike’s Hard Lemonade and tells him to practice safe sexโ€ฆ or probably not.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is in theaters July 7.
